A 4-axis interface with encoder counters, PWM generators and digital I/O. Connection to the computer is via the parallel port. The encoder counters can handle count rates up to ten megaHertz on each axis simultaneously. The PWM generators have a 25 ns granularity, so they can do 1/8 % resolution at 50 KHz (800 discrete pulse widths). At higher PWM frequencies the resolution is coarser in percentage terms, at lower frequencies it becomes finer. There are 16 optoisolated digital inputs, one is dedicated to the E-stop system. The rest can be used for home and limit switches, jog pendants, or whatever else is needed. There are sockets on the board to mount up to 8 solid state relays. An optional board can be added to provide analog output to control spindle speed, see: Spindle DAC.

This board converts the proprietary Fanuc commutation encoder signals to industry-standard "Hall" signals compatible with most brushless drives such as Servo Dynamics, Copley Controls, AMC, and, of course, our own PWM brushless servo amplifiers. It uses the proprietary Fanuc signals until the motor has moved to the index pulse position for the first time, then it counts quadrature encoder signals after that for better precision of the commutation. It can accept encoder resolutions of 1000, 2000, 2500, 3000 and 10,000 cycles (pulses) /rev. The encoder resolution is set with jumpers. This board can also be used as a differential line receiver for the ABZ encoder signals, and repeats these signals for use by the CNC control and/or brushless drive. The new model now supports both the original red-cap encoder (such as A860-0304-T111) and the ABS encoder (such as A860-0320-T111).

A resolver to quadrature converter. This reads absolute position from a resolver and produces a standard encoder quadrature signal with index pulse, at a resolution of 4096 counts/revolution. The output is differential, but you can use just the true signals if your CNC control or drive doesn 't use the differential inputs. The board only requires +5 V at 250 mA.
